The Head of Legal will lead the company's legal function and provide strategic and practical advice to the CEO and senior management. The role covers commercial, corporate and regulatory matters, supporting business growth, managing legal risks and ensuring that the company's activities comply with applicable legal requirements.
What To Do
- Lead the company's legal function and advise the CEO and senior management on commercial, corporate and regulatory matters.
- Draft, review and negotiate agreements with clients, payment providers, banks, technology vendors and other business partners.
- Provide legal support for licensing, regulatory submissions and communications with relevant authorities.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the business and advise on necessary changes.
- Advise on the legal requirements for new products, services, partnerships and expansion into new markets.
- Work closely with Compliance, Risk, Finance and Operations to address legal risks and support business decisions.
- Oversee corporate governance, board resolutions, statutory documentation and company records.
- Advise on data protection, confidentiality, intellectual property and employment matters.
- Manage disputes, litigation and external legal advisers.
- Develop and maintain legal policies, contract templates and approval procedures.
- Report material legal risks and ongoing matters to senior management.
What's needed
Degree in Law and a recognised professional legal qualification.- Significant experience in commercial, corporate and regulatory law, preferably within payments, financial services or fintech.
- Experience leading a legal function or managing complex legal matters independently.
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Familiarity with Cyprus and EU legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to the business.
- Experience supporting licensing processes and working with regulatory authorities.
- Knowledge of digital assets and crypto-related legal frameworks would be an advantage.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
